About Us: has provided high-quality accommodation in since 1940, now offering affordable housing to nearly 2000 young, single people in thirteen large hostels. Our residents are students or workers in , staying with us to familiarize themselves with the city and decide on long-term housing. Responsibilities: - Food Ordering, Storage, Preparation, and Service: Prepare menus set by the House Manager or House Cook and participate in menu planning during absences. Follow stock control, rotation, and holdings practices. During absences, compile and place food orders in consultation with the House Manager. Maintain portion control and delivery standards. Prepare, cook, and present meals to a high standard. Budgets: Ensure adherence to food budgets with the House Manager. Assess the quality and content of all foodstuffs delivered, reporting issues to the House Manager. Health & Safety: Maintain high hygiene standards. Record delivery, fridge, freezer, and food service temperatures daily. Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and operated correctly, reporting issues to the House Manager/Assistant Manager. Comply with the Food Safety Act 1990, Health & Safety Act 1974, and other relevant statutes. Staff Supervision: Ensure the kitchen is clean and tidy after shifts, reporting to the duty manager before leaving. Perform any other reasonable duties as directed. Key Skills: At least 3 years of professional kitchen experience, ideally in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Knowledge of stock control, ordering schedules, prep schedules, and storage processes. Commitment to food hygiene and health. Excellent communication skills. Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure as part of a team. Passion for creating good food and great teamwork. Desire to succeed and advance professionally. This position offers autonomy in menu design and creation, making it ideal for an energetic and organized cook.
