Job description

The Driver Dispatcher plays a vital role in the smooth, safe and efficient dispatch of our 100+ vehicles daily, ensuring our drivers are equipped with the correct tools to carry out their deliveries in a safe and timely manner. You must drive and have access to your own vehicle to be eligible for this role. Working closely with the on-duty Transport Supervisors, you will help maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the morning operation – an essential function in supporting timely deliveries and excellent customer service. Key responsibilities include: - Ensuring smooth data exports from our Warehouse Management System to the Transport Management System. - Adjusting driver schedules based on vehicle changes, route updates, or absences. - Generating and preparing daily key reports to support driver readiness. - Allocating drivers and vehicles using STREAM to ensure timely departures. - Deploying spare drivers to cover additional routes or absences. - Coordinating customer and supplier collections within driver rounds. - Managing the issue of fuel cards and customer keys. - Overseeing pre-departure vehicle checks and managing defect reports. - Recording key and trolley numbers at dispatch. - Supporting compliance with H&S and transport regulations. - Reporting and investigating vehicle accidents in a timely and thorough manner. Role requirements Skills and Experience: - Proactive and positive mindset and a can-do attitude. - Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to work with over 130 drivers. - Proven experience in motivating teams. - Clear and confident communication—written and verbal. - Strong organisation and time management skills. - Ability to stay calm and focused in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. - Exceptional attention to detail. Experience using STREAM or similar Transport Management System would be beneficial, but full training will be provided.
