How to raise your platform reputation to find regular work

How to raise your platform reputation to find regular work

We’re all about enabling you to reach your professional or personal goals with rewarding, flexible work. To help you reach your full potential on the Coople platform, we’ve put together a handy overview on how you can successfully build your platform reputation to find regular flexible work.

Dress code

Be sure to turn up to your shift in the right clothes. A full dress code can be found in the description of each role within our jobs marketplace. It’s vitally important to follow the specified dress code exactly as some hiring companies will not allow you to work otherwise.

Arrive on time

First impressions matter. It’s important to ensure that you are adequately prepared for your shift to make sure you get the best possible rating to build your platform reputation. We therefore encourage our Cooplers to prepare for their shift by researching the shift location before it starts, and to arrive at least 10 minutes early. This will provide you with adequate time in case of traffic etc.

Arrive on time

It’s important to remain professional and have a positive attitude while at work. A good way to ensure you stand out while on shift and raise your reputation is to stay friendly and engaged. If there’s anything you’re unsure of, or something you would like to learn, don’t be afraid to ask! Being proactive and having a can-do attitude is a great way of making a stand out impression to hiring companies, which will allow you to increase your reputation even more.

Other ways of standing out include:

  • Asking your teammates what you can help with
  • Staying organized and keeping your work area tidy
  • Checking the quality of your own work
  • Being enthusiastic about your work – a positive attitude goes a long way!
  • Learning about the ins and outs of your role. When you know what the role involves and what is expected of you, you will be able to perform at your best
  • Be on time – whether you’re arriving for your shift, returning from breaks or completing tasks, punctuality is key and shows that you are reliable and dependable

Good luck with your flexible job search! For more tips on how you can increase your chances of getting hired and reach your goals, you can read our blog articles below:

What are job profiles?

What are job profiles?

A job profile is a role and experience level (eg. Expert office assistant) and they determine the types of job requests you will receive when working with Coople. It’s essential that you add at least one job profile, which you can do via the profile tab. Without job profiles, you will not be able to receive tailored job requests.

You can add multiple job profiles to your profile, although evidence of your experience may be required. Having multiple job profiles means that you will receive more relevant job requests sent straight to your mobile, making it even easier to find rewarding work for you.

What job profiles can I add?

The job profiles are as varied as the jobs we have on Coople. From warehouse assistants and forklift drivers to office assistants and promoters, there are plenty of different profiles available.
Once you’ve selected a profile, you may be asked to add your experience level. Our experience levels are divided into three different levels: Novice, Intermediate or Expert.

After you select an experience level, the job profile will be added to your account under the profile tab. Your job profile will then be approved by our team. We take special care to check that your job profiles match your experience to ensure that you receive a salary that reflects your skill level. This process is not automatic, but you don’t have to wait for approval. You can start applying to jobs right away, which speeds up the approval process!

Once you’ve added your job profiles, you will receive relevant job requests to your mobile. However, that’s not the only way you can find work with Coople. You can also apply to a diverse range of opportunities in our jobs marketplace, anytime, anywhere.

And that’s it! We wish you the best of luck on your flexible working journey. If you would like more information on how to set up your profile and maximise your chances of getting hired, browse our helpful guides below:

Photo competition for Cooplers

We recently launched a photo competition to spotlight the exceptional work and talent within our community. If you missed the initial announcement, do not worry. There is still plenty of time to get involved for the chance to win 100 Swiss Francs and be featured on our pages! Read on for more background information on why we’re doing this competition and how you can participate.

We want to spotlight you at work

Over the last couple of months, Coople has started to look different. We’ve transitioned to using black and white visuals and our Coople pink is now reserved for accents and highlights. As our brand evolves, we want to highlight the expertise of our flexible employees and emphasise their versatility, talent, and commitment at work. The most authentic way to do this is to use real photos of real Cooplers.

Between 8th October – 1st November, we encourage you to send in photos showcasing yourself and your skills at work. A public vote will determine the three winning photos. We will reward the three Cooplers who gather the most votes with 100 Swiss Francs each!

What we’re looking for

We want to spotlight the versatility, professionalism and ambition of our Cooplers at work. We want to see photos that truly demonstrate the quality of our workforce – this means no selfies, no blurry images and no leisure related pictures.

Camera shy? No problem. Since we are looking for examples of exemplary workers, we’re focusing on your skills and dedication in the workplace. As long as we can clearly see your committed attitude at work, there’s no problem if your face is not the central focus. Just be sure to showcase your skills!
If you would like more information on our photo guidelines, click here for our tips on how you can submit your best photos and the competition terms and conditions.

How to find work during a pandemic: pieces of advice from our Corona Heroes

How to find work during a pandemic: pieces of advice from our Corona Heroes

During times of hardship, community is more important than ever. That’s why we have reached out to Cooplers who were incredibly active and worked a lot of shifts during the pandemic to share their secrets to success with the rest of our community. You might have seen them on our social channels a couple of weeks ago. These unwavering members of our community have stepped up to share their advice and experience to help you on your way to success.

We’ve received a lot of amazing feedback and advice and summarized them here. We encourage you to heed their learnings and apply their advice to supplement your own working journey.

Our Corona Heroes advise you to:

  • Be sure to complete your profile and make sure it is in the best shape it can be! Upload and update your CV with your most relevant work experience and ensure you have uploaded all the relevant job profiles (with suitable experience levels) to your account
  • Following on the last point, ensure that you have completed the “About Me” section of your profile – this is your chance to sell your skills and suitability to companies, so be sure to make the most of this space with a few short sentences! Upon reading, companies should be able to tell that you are a reliable and motivated worker
  • Talk to companies you have previously worked with through Coople and let your enthusiasm and reliability be known! Let companies know that you are ready and willing to work under new safety measures or adjusted hours. Most companies are happy to rely on the support of Cooplers during such tough times, so be proactive in reaching out at the end of your current shift!
  • Talk to co-workers at your shift. They often know a lot about the workplace you’re at and if there might even be a longer-term job opportunity. And even if not, you don’t lose anything by widening your network and getting to know new people.
  • Turn on notifications and job requests to avoid missing out on new opportunities as they come in. Try to apply as quickly as possible so companies can see your application right away!
  • Check the app regularly and consider expanding your search radius and the scope of jobs you are willing to do
  • Apply for as many jobs as possible, even if they are not the kind of jobs you would typically apply for. Think about the needs of workplaces and remain flexible to new opportunities that come your way. Don’t be afraid to try something new and don’t let rejection get to you  it’s inevitable, especially in such times of crisis, but all you need is just one acceptance to lead to success!

Once again, thanks from all of us at Coople to our hardworking Corona Heroes for your tireless efforts! On the behalf of the rest of our community, we thank and applaud you for selflessly sharing your advice as community mentors.

The signs of burnout and how to recover

The signs of burnout and how to recover

What is burnout?

Burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion caused by overexertion and excessive and prolonged stress. Symptoms include frequent illness and lowered immunity, constant fatigue, loss of motivation and reduced performance.

It’s by no means a rare phenomena, either – a study found that the rate of burnout in Switzerland is increasing rapidly, with work stoppages due to stress rising by 50% since 2012. The Swiss government also found that stress and burnout costs the economy roughly CHF10 billion per annum. On top of that, research has also shown that burnout not only affects your wellbeing, your brain(!) and performance, but can cause strain on relationships too. Due to its widespread effects, prevention and treatment is key.

Early warning signs

Pre-burnout and depression share many similar symptoms, including but not limited to:

  • Increased cynicism and negative outlook
  • Persistent tiredness
  • Sleep deprivation
  • Increased sugar/alcohol consumption
  • Decreased quality of work

Overcoming burnout

We’ve gathered a number of tips to guide you through overcoming mild cases of burnout below. In more severe cases, we advise our Cooplers to reach out to more appropriate sources of support such as mental health support lines or local practising doctors for advisory guidance. Remember, you are not alone in your struggle, nor do you have to suffer in silence!

1. Find a healthy work-life balance
As the Coople mantra goes: work to live, don’t live to work! Life is about more than just the 9-5 (or whatever flexible hours you choose as a Coopler) grind. Pursue creative endeavours, invest time in your interests and social life to reconnect with life outside of work.

2. Take time for yourself
Exercise, a quality sleep schedule, nourishing meals and proper “me time” – these are all touted regularly as treatments for stress and other similar ailments, but for good reason. Having a solid self care routine can do wonders for the busy individual, so make sure you’re setting time aside each day to disconnect from work and focus on yourself and your wellbeing.

3. Set boundaries
If you’re reaching capacity on what you can manage in your personal and work life, don’t be afraid to take a stance and say “no”.

If you’re feeling on the cusp of (pre)burnout, it’s also a good idea to take a step back to assess the underlying cause. Are you working too many long nights? Are your social obligations, fitness goals and home life on top of your work aspirations too much to balance? Once you pinpoint the root, you can begin recuperating.

Remember: if you’re suffering from (pre)burnout, there are sources of support you can reach out to for guidance. We recommend you to call your GP for advice and necessary health assessments, or dial 143 to reach the “Helping Hand” counselling helpline. Alternatively, you can reach out to our team at +41 44 554 50 00 for advice and further support.Â
