Why do people take on temporary work? The answers might surprise you.

Why do people take on temporary work? The answers might surprise you.

In 2020, we surveyed over 900 of our Cooplers (the flexible workers on Coople’s platform) to understand why they look for temporary work and what attracts them to specific flexible jobs.

As expected, many of them use our platform to reach their earnings goals with extra shifts, or stay flexible to care for family. More surprisingly, the largest group of them work flexibly to acquire new skills or discover their abilities.

When it comes to selecting jobs, temporary workers share the same needs as your permanent team. They want to contribute and be part of a great team.

How to raise your platform reputation to find regular work

How to raise your platform reputation to find regular work

We’re all about enabling you to reach your professional or personal goals with rewarding, flexible work. To help you reach your full potential on the Coople platform, we’ve put together a handy overview on how you can successfully build your platform reputation to find regular flexible work.

Dress code

Be sure to turn up to your shift in the right clothes. A full dress code can be found in the description of each role within our jobs marketplace. It’s vitally important to follow the specified dress code exactly as some hiring companies will not allow you to work otherwise.

Arrive on time

First impressions matter. It’s important to ensure that you are adequately prepared for your shift to make sure you get the best possible rating to build your platform reputation. We therefore encourage our Cooplers to prepare for their shift by researching the shift location before it starts, and to arrive at least 10 minutes early. This will provide you with adequate time in case of traffic etc.

Arrive on time

It’s important to remain professional and have a positive attitude while at work. A good way to ensure you stand out while on shift and raise your reputation is to stay friendly and engaged. If there’s anything you’re unsure of, or something you would like to learn, don’t be afraid to ask! Being proactive and having a can-do attitude is a great way of making a stand out impression to hiring companies, which will allow you to increase your reputation even more.

Other ways of standing out include:

  • Asking your teammates what you can help with
  • Staying organized and keeping your work area tidy
  • Checking the quality of your own work
  • Being enthusiastic about your work – a positive attitude goes a long way!
  • Learning about the ins and outs of your role. When you know what the role involves and what is expected of you, you will be able to perform at your best
  • Be on time – whether you’re arriving for your shift, returning from breaks or completing tasks, punctuality is key and shows that you are reliable and dependable

What are job profiles?

What are job profiles?

A job profile is a role and experience level (eg. Expert office assistant) and they determine the types of job requests you will receive when working with Coople. It’s essential that you add at least one job profile, which you can do via the profile tab. Without job profiles, you will not be able to receive tailored job requests.

You can add multiple job profiles to your profile, although evidence of your experience may be required. Having multiple job profiles means that you will receive more relevant job requests sent straight to your mobile, making it even easier to find rewarding work for you.

What job profiles can I add?

The job profiles are as varied as the jobs we have on Coople. From warehouse assistants and forklift drivers to office assistants and promoters, there are plenty of different profiles available.
Once you’ve selected a profile, you may be asked to add your experience level. Our experience levels are divided into three different levels: Novice, Intermediate or Expert.

After you select an experience level, the job profile will be added to your account under the profile tab. Your job profile will then be approved by our team. We take special care to check that your job profiles match your experience to ensure that you receive a salary that reflects your skill level. This process is not automatic, but you don’t have to wait for approval. You can start applying to jobs right away, which speeds up the approval process!

Once you’ve added your job profiles, you will receive relevant job requests to your mobile. However, that’s not the only way you can find work with Coople. You can also apply to a diverse range of opportunities in our jobs marketplace, anytime, anywhere.

And that’s it! We wish you the best of luck on your flexible working journey. If you would like more information on how to set up your profile and maximise your chances of getting hired, browse our helpful guides below:
